Technology and Equipment Wish List
Above: Participants in the January 2006 workshop collaborate on the video storyboard which led to the production of the Shipibo documentary Paromea Ronin Bakebo (Shipibo for The Children of the Anaconda).
The Shipibo are very interested in having their own "community video cameras" so that they can produce their own videos and continue to share their story with the world. Many participants in the last workshop were interested in producing films on such topics as natural medicine and other environmentally-themed videos. Film can be a very empowering and unifying tool for communities and as a means of communication by which meaning is generated. Film allows for other ways of perceiving and creating community-based external realities to be projected to a wider audience. In order to assist the Shipibo in these endeavors, Village Earth is looking for the following new or gently used equipment to be donated:
* Digital still cameras
* Laptop Computers -- Pentium III or better or Macintosh G3 or better
* Color printers
* DVD printers
* Solar battery chargers
* GPS units
* Digital Video cameras - hard drive or mini DV
* Mini DV tapes
* Mini disc recorders
* Stand alone DVD burners
* Blank DVDs
All monetary and equipment donations are 100% tax-deductible. If you are interested in contributing to this project, please contact: kristina@villageearth.org
Below: Village Earth would like equipment, like that pictured below, to be given to different communities so they can facilitate their own film projects without relying on an outside resource like Village Earth.
